Fall Up North

Having only had a cabin since the beginning of August, we have really taken advantage of it. We have gone up there about 5 or 6 times since closing on it and stayed for long weekends. We haven't done much more work on it, but have some plans for next Spring.

Some ideas of things we need to do include:

• leveling it/adding some supports underneath
• adding pine panels to the bedroom walls
• removing the drop ceiling so we have vaulted ceilings in the living room and 2nd bedroom
• putting the bunk beds back together stacked on top of each other instead of L shaped

And last, but not least, we hope to buy a boat! We are in the market for a used pontoon, so if you know of anyone who wants to sell us one on the cheap, let us know.

During the last couple months of cabin ownership, we've had a few guests test out the guest bed and couch. And then we've had some other visitors over just for the day or a meal, including Gehrmans, Careys, Barretts, Smiths and Crouches. I love it. We're looking forward to having more people up next year. 

Most recently, we went up just the three of us and then took a day to visit my cousin Emily at Bemidji State. It was so fun to be on a college campus again, to see Em, and to let Emmett meet Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.

Back at the cabin...

Emmett and I had fun jumping in the leaves while Daddy took a nap from the long drive to/from Bemidji. In this first picture, his hands are doing the "where'd they go?" gesture because he buried his feet in the leaves.

Emmett also had fun climbing in and out of the drawers under the bed...

 ...and just being silly running around in just his diaper. He is such a silly little guy.
