6 months!

Emmett turned 6 months old on December 23, and he celebrated by going in for his 6-month check-up wearing his Santa suit and greeting all the nurses with smiles.

At 6 months, Emmett weighed 16 lbs, 7 oz and was 26.25 in long. His head circumference was 17 in. If I remember correctly, his weight is in the 38th percentile, and his height is in the 43rd percentile. So he is growing along just fine.

By 6 months, Emmett learned how to sit up with just a little support, reach for everything everywhere (including mashed potatoes right off my plate at Key's Cafe) and put everything everywhere in his mouth.

In just the past two weeks, Emmett has become increasingly interested in his sister Indy. He reaches for her, squeezes her fur/skin with his chubby little hands (I think he's trying to pet her, but it's more of a pinch/squeeze), tap her side/butt/leg with his hand repeatedly, and even try to talk to her.

One of my favorite things to do is come home from work on Wednesdays (the day that Emmett is home with Eric all day). By just greeting Emmett with a big smile and a "Hi!!!", I can get him laughing so hard. He frequently gets the hiccups from laughing so hard. Not sure if this is good or bad.

Emmett has also tried a few more solids in the past couple weeks. He has had rice cereal, carrots and peas. Next up on the baby food list: potatoes.

Likes:
- Indy
- being changed (laughs hysterically if you tickle his armpits and neck)
- drinking from the bottle (he acts like he is starving and can't get the food in his belly fast enough - at his check-up, he had to drink a baby version of the flu shot, and the nurses said they'd never seen a baby drink it so fast!)
- sitting up
- putting things in mouth
- mommy and daddy's cell phones and computer screens
- the Christmas tree
- Baby Einstein play center
- lion and puppy lovie blankets
- books! (likes to hit and grab the pages while mommy and daddy read)
- peek-a-boo
- watching others clap and sing and dance

Dislikes:
- eating too slowly
- being left alone for a minute in his bumbo or play mat (this is a sometimes occurrence and a new one)
- being fed solids before liquids (give the boy the bottle first, babysitters!)
- nasal aspirator (AKA booger sucker) - he had a cold for a while, but it's finally clearing up (I hope!)
- tummy time
